SCC Breakers Announces Academy Format For 2009 Season
The Santa Cruz County Breakers Soccer Club announced today the transition to a European-style developmental format beginning in the 2009 season. Paolo Carbone, Breaker’s Coaching Director, is moving the club toward the player-first model that is used by many of the top clubs in the world. The change will create more opportunities for motivated players to have the highest level of coaching and playing opportunities available.
Rosters for the 2009 U10 and U11 teams will have a maximum of 20 players and play in the 8v8 format. This format allows each player to get the maximum touches on the ball and enables them to more quickly develop their technical skills. Each roster will play in Division I and be registered in the Premier and Gold divisions in the US Club Soccer NorCal League. This translates into one large player pool playing two team schedules. The rosters will train as one and players will have the opportunity to play each week in whichever game is most beneficial for the player. This gives the maximum flexibility to the players and coaches to make the best decisions in the interest of the individual player. The roster for the U12 team will have a maximum of 28 players and play the 11v11 format. The final roster numbers will be determined by player evaluation at tryouts.
A U14 Academy roster will also be added to the U16 and U18 Academy program which will further encourage the development of the club’s top players. While doing this there will still be U14, U16 and U18 Division I Abronzino/NorCal rosters.
High School age girls, current U15, U16 and U17, will have two rosters of 20-22 players that will be playing US Club Soccer/NorCal Premier at the U17 and U18 level. This format will allow more flexibility for the families and also help the coaches with players’ movement when needed during the season.
“Our mission is to put the player first. We are constantly striving to make the club better at developing the great pool of talent in Santa Cruz County”, Carbone said. “This is the next step in that process. We are having tremendous success with our U16 and U18 Academy teams (which are feeders for colleges, professional teams and the US National Team) and this will ensure a solid foundation for those teams going forward.”
The club will be hosting open tryouts for all teams in January and March of 2009. All roster spots are open. Tryouts for the boys U14, U16 and U18 Abronzino and Academy teams as well as the girls U14 and U15 teams will be in March and the final tryouts for US Soccer Development Academy U14 (95 & 96), U16 (94 & 95) and U18 (91 & 92) boys team will be at the end of May.
*Boys Academy teams are calendar year (Jan 1st – Dec 31st) and US Club Soccer/CYSA teams cut off dates are August 1st – July 31st.

El club de Soccer Breakers del condado de Santa Cruz anuncio hoy la transicion a un formato de desarrollo estilo Europeo empezando en la temporada del 2009.
Paolo Carbone, el director tecnico de los Breakers, esta llevando al club hacia un modelo enfocado en el jugador, este modelo es usado por los equipos mas exitosos a nivel mundial. Este cambio creara mas oportunidades para los jugadores mas motivados para tener mas oportunidades de ser mejor entrenado y tambien de tener mejores oportunidades de jugar.
Las listas de los equipos del 2009 de U10 y U11 tendran un maximo de 20 jugadores y jugaran en un formato 8v8. Este formato permite al jugador tocar mas la pelota y le permite desarrolar rapidamente sus habilidades tecnicas. Cada lista de jugadores estaran en la Division 1 y seran registrados en la liga NORCAL en 2 divisiones Premier y division GOLD (Oro). Esto significa que todos los jugadores pertenecen a un solo grupo que juega en 2 divisiones . Este grupo entrenara junto y los jugadores tendran la oportunidad de jugar cada semana en el juego y division mas apropiado y benefico para cada jugador. Esto dara maxima flexibilidad a los jugadores y a los coaches para tomar las mejores decisiones tomando en cuenta el interes y desempeño de cada jugador. La lista del equipo del 2009 de U12 tendra un maximo de 28 jugadores y jugaran en un formato de 11v11. El numero de jugadores en este equipo sera determinado una vez que los jugadores sean evaluados atravez de los ”tryouts”.
El equipo U14 Academia sera agregado al Programa Academia de los U16 y U18, lo cual va a reforzar el desarrollo de los mejores jugadores del club. Al mismo tiempo mientras se hace esto, todavia va haber listas de Division 1 Abronzino/Norcal.
Para las listas de equipos de mujeres de edad Preparatoria U15, U16 y U17, Habra dos listas de 20 a 22 jugadores que jugaran en el US Club Soccer/Norcal Premier en el nivel de U17 y U18. Este formato permitira mas flexibilidad par alas familias y tambien ayudara al movimiento de jugadores cuando sea necesrio durante la temporada.
“Nuestra mission es poner al jugador en primer lugar. Constantemente buscamos mejorar el club , desarrollando el gran talento futbolistico que existe en el condado de Santa Cruz”, Carbone dijo. “Este es el siguiente paso en este proceso. Estamos teniendo un gran exito con los equipos de Academia U16 y U18 (Los cuales contribuyen a formar y eventualmnte transferir jugadores para equipos de Universidades, Equipos Profesionales e incluso para formar parte del equipo nacional Estadounidense) y de esta forma se asegura unos cimientos solidos para esos equipos en el futuro.”
El club tendra los “tryouts” para todos los equipos durante Enero y Marzo del 2009. Todas las posiciones estan abiertas .
