January 13, 2008 -- The SCC Breakers 94G White won the girls U13 championship at the Ajax United Winter Invitational tournament this past weekend.

The Breakers started off group play with a 0-0 tie against a tough DVSC Fusion team. They then defeated the CV Revolution 2-0 and the Placer United Prestige 95 Gold 1-0 to win their group. The Breakers moved on to the championship round, where they faced two-time defending State Cup Champions, the Central Valley Chilipeppers. The game with the Chilipeppers was a hard fought battle that remained scoreless through most of the first half. The Breakers finally found the back of the net with a rebound shot and went into the half with a slim 1-0 lead. Play was frantic throughout the second half, but the Breakers defense held strong. When the final whistle blew, the girls could finally savor their victory against one
of the premier youth soccer teams in California.

Coach Ashley Edgar said of his team's accomplishment, "I really liked the way our girls played together as a team against some very stiff competition and I'm especially proud of our defense, who did not give up a goal the entire tournament."

November 18, 2007 -- The SCC Breakers 94G White took second place in the District 2 Cup tournament. The Breakers started off group play with a 0-0 tie against the CV Revolution White. They then defeated a scrappy Palo Alto Blue team 2-1 and headed into a must-win situation in their Sunday morning match against the De Force 94 Blue. The Breakers scored an early first half goal against the Force and took a slim 1-0 lead into half time. Action was fast and furious through the second half, but the Breakers defense held. With the 1-0
victory, the Breakers took first in their group and moved on to face the Central Valley Chilipeppers in the Championship match. The Breakers managed to put one ball in the back of the net, but it wasn't to be their day. The game ended with a final score of 3-1 in favor of the Chilipeppers, who demonstrated why they are two-time defending State Cup Champions.

August 19, 2007 -- The SCC Breakers 94G White take third in Soccer by the Bay tournament.

For the second tournament in a row, the Breakers won all of their games in group play. They defeated the Almaden ICE 1-0 and followed up with a 3-0 victory over the Palo Alto 95G Blue and a 2-0 victory over the San Ramon Xpress. Winning their group did not guarantee the Breakers a spot in the Championship game, however. Their point total for group play fell just short and they had to settle for a chance to play for third.

In the Consolation match, the Breakers played the DVSC Fusion in a hard fought battle that felt like a championship game. Almost before they knew it, the Breakers found themselves down 2-0. They didn't give up, however. With less than 12 minutes to go in the game, the Breakers cut the DVSC lead in half. They scored a second goal with less than six minutes to play and continued to press until the end of regulation. The score remained tied through two periods of extra time and then it was PK's all over again. This time, however, the Breakers prevailed.

The Breakers coach, Ashley Edgar, said of his team's efforts "We are really coming together as a team. Our defense has been very solid and we are starting to put some balls into the net." As the Breakers 94G White head into league play, they take with them a combined record of 6-0-2 with 24 goals scored and just four against.

August 5, 2007 -- The SCC Breakers 94G White place second in Santa Cruz Breakers Cup tournament.

The 94G White girls won all of their games in group play, defeating the San Ramon Xpress 3-1, the CVSA Cyclones Red 7-0, and South San Jose United 5-0. The Breakers advanced to the Championship game where they battled the Central Marin Magic to a 1-1 tie at the end regulation. After two scoreless periods of extra time, the game was decided by PK's. Unfortunately for the Breakers, the PK's didn't go
their way and they had to settle for runner up.

January 27, 2007 -- The SCC Breakers 94G White faced the Almaden ICE in a State Cup "Round of 32" match. The Breakers and ICE battled to a scoreless tie through two periods of regulation and two 10 minute golden-goal overtime periods. The game had to be settled by penalty kicks and, unfortunately, the PKs went the ICE's way. Considering the fact that these two teams have tied six of the last seven times they've played, today's result didn't come as a complete surprise.

January 21, 2007 -- The SCC Breakers 94G White went undefeated in State Cup group play this past weekend. On Saturday the Breakers beat the Alpine Menlo Rebels 5-0 and the San Juan Spirits 95 White 1-0. On Sunday, they beat the Novato Velocity 2-0 to win their bracket and advance out of group play. The defense put in a solid effort, allowing no goals to be scored. The Breakers next game is this coming Saturday where they face league rivals Almaden ICE for the right to move on to the State Cup Sweet 16.
