U11 Boys white team are the 2006 District Cup Champions!

Congratulations to the U11 Boys white team-the 2006 District Cup Champions!
Under the supportive guidance of Coach Paul Gooch, the boys won all four of
their games, 3 out of 4 of those in shut-outs. All players had an excellent tournament with Isiah Alvarez leading the team in scoring and Andres Gomez keeping our opponents at bay in the goal. The defensive line played solidly throughout the competition, only letting one goal get through in the final game. Our assertive midfield worked hard, supporting a fast and skilled front line. With their parents cheering them on, the boys played hard and represented the Santa Cruz Breakers well! We are very proud of their accomplishment. Way to go boys!

U11 Breakers Boys, white win the Breakers Cup 2006!

After the devastating death of our Assistant Coach, Boo Barrabee, just a week before, the Breakers committed to winning the Cup for Boo. With black armbands in place, the team did just that! Lynden Gooch scored an average of four goals per game with the support of an excellent front line including Charlie Stock, Isiah Alvarez, Christopher Sprague, Stevie Lopez and Zach Anderson. Our goalie, Andres Gomez-Trejo had an excellent tournament with World Cup-like saves. His defensive line led by Anton Galewski with support from Steve Lonhart, Marcos Renteria-Haro and Ean Nason were a challenge for every team-almost unbeatable. The mid-field was again dominated by exceptional Breaker skill as demonstrated by Cole Welle, Zach Dammann, Keegan Richards and Josh Burr. The speed and aggressive play of the team was impressive.

The Championship game was a highlight for the team as it was their first opportunity to play on the turf in the Cabrillo Stadium. It was a well-played game by both teams as our opponents were the Breakers Ull Boys, Blue. Breaker spirit was running high and players and families enjoyed a great game of soccer. It was an outstanding way to honor our Coach Boo and close an excellent tournament.

Thank you to all of the teams that supported our boys and families during this emotional time.

In Memorium - Coach Boo
